There is a wide range of hotels, guest houses and bungalow accommodation in the Ao Nang area. New hotels are being built and in general the whole area is under a process of upgrading. Plenty of choice in the 2 star, 3 star and 4 star range, everything for everyones budget. Five star is available too, with most of the choice being in the Khlong Muang area. Back packers can still find their hostels.

Generally you can get a better deal booking on line with the hotel of your choice.
Ao Nang is the main resort area with the majority of facilities and attractions. Best choice for the Summer Season, when the prices are lowest and close enough for some action.
Nopparrat Thara is the next beach along from Ao Nang. Less developed it has a wide range of older bungalow resorts, some newer delelopments too. In this area you will find a few restaurants and the Muay Thai Stadium. The boxing matches are each Friday night.
Ao Namao or Shell Fossil Beach is about 10 minutes taxi ride out of Ao Nang. A sleepy hollow!
Tonsai Beach is isolated from the mainland by a cliff, so a longtail ride is required. A back packer destination.
Also isolated from the mainland is Railay Beach. Buzzing and popular in the high (winter) season, many are disappointed to arrive in the summer season to find the place empty and the longtail boatmen still want to charge top price to take one or two passengers over to Ao Nang for some action.
Phra Nang Beach, some might say, is one of the most beautiful on earth. It is also the location of some of the most expensive hotel rooms in Krabi Province!
Krabi is very much the provincial town. Not much to write home about, but has a few nice places to walk. It is the transport hub with the airport, main bus station and ferry links. Accommodation can be found at very cheap rates, but then again there are always travel costs in getting to Ao Nang for diving.
Khlong Muang is about 20 minutes taxi ride out of Ao Nang. Along with Tub Keak Beach it has a good selection of higher range and boutique hotels. Somewhere to get away from the crowds.
